TO BENEFIT PATIENT CARE AT ST. JOHN’S
VOLUNTEERS HONORED FOR OVER 41,000 HOURS OF SERVICE AT JUNE 24
INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS AND AWARDS LUNCHEON

Oxnard, Calif. (June 24, 2010) – The St. John’s Regional Medical Center Auxiliary held its annual installation of officers and awards luncheon on June 24 at Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club in Oxnard, at which the Auxiliary presented St. John’s Regional Medical Center with a check for $100,000 to benefit patient care at St. John’s.

At the event, new Auxiliary officers were announced, and attendees received their annual service awards. In total, members of St. John’s Regional Medical Center logged 41,633 volunteer hours in fiscal year 2009. The event also honored several devoted volunteers at St. John’s Regional Medical Center over the age of ninety for their ongoing efforts at St. John’s. Members of the Auxiliary at St. John’s Regional Medical Center volunteer their time and talents to positively impact patients and visitors to St. John’s. Volunteers also serve the employees and medical staff at the hospital by performing clerical work, providing messenger and delivery services, staffing the admitting and reception desks, and other necessary duties. Through special projects, such as creating craft items for newborns and their families or creating flower arrangements, the volunteers support the mission and values of St. John’s by raising spirits and helping maintain a positive, healing environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Additionally, the Auxiliary raises money to directly benefit patient care at St. John’s Regional Medical Center. “At St. John’s Regional Medical Center, our volunteers are crucial to the healthcare services we offer,” said Sharon Jones, director of Volunteer Services at St. John’s. “They make our hospital a better place by offering hope and a positive environment to patients, their families, and St. John’s employees and administration. We are grateful for the care they provide and for their consistently selfless service.”
