Healthier Living: Managing Ongoing Health Conditions

Oxnard, Calif. (May 26, 2010) – St. John’s Regional Medical Center and St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital are offering a free, six-week, peer-to-peer Chronic Disease Self Management Program, presented in collaboration with the Camarillo Health Care District, the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging, and SCAN.

Scheduled to begin on Monday, June 7 and to continue weekly through Monday, July 12, this free program and workshop, titled Healthier Living: Managing Ongoing Health Conditions, is designed for people affected by different chronic health problems, including diabetes, cancer, arthritis, and more.

Classes will be offered at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. every Monday. The program will address such topics as the management of frustration, fatigue, pain, and isolation associated with chronic disease, and will also offer tips on exercise, nutrition, strength, flexibility, endurance, and medication usage.

Reservations are requested. Interested persons may call St. John’s Community Health Education Department at (805) 988-2865 for more information or to register. Space is limited, and reservations will be made on a first-come, first served basis.
