Volunteers Honored At February 12 Luncheon

Volunteers Recognized for Hours of Service

St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers
Recognized for Over 194,000 Hours of Service

Camarillo, Calif. (February 16, 2010) – The St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital Auxiliary held its annual awards luncheon on February 12 at Las Posas Country Club, at which attendees received their annual service awards. The members of St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital Auxiliary honored at Friday’s event logged a total of 194,200 volunteer hours in 2009.

Members of the Auxiliary at St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital volunteer their time and talents to positively impact patients and visitors to St. John’s. Volunteers also serve the employees and medical staff at the hospital by performing clerical work, providing messenger and delivery services, staffing the admitting and reception desks, and other necessary duties. Through special projects, such as creating craft items for newborns and their families or creating flower arrangements, the volunteers support the mission and values of St. John’s by raising spirits and helping maintain a positive, healing environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Additionally, the Auxiliary raises money to directly benefit patient care at St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital.

“Our volunteers are truly at the heart of the healthcare services we offer at St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital,” said Sharon Jones, director of Volunteer Services at St. John’s. “They make our hospital a better place, offering hope and a positive environment to patients, their families, and St. John’s employees and administration. We are grateful for their caring hearts and selfless service.”
