St. John's Hospital President Announces Departure Plan

T. Michael Murray to Stay through March, Assist with Transition as National Search for Replacement Begins

Oxnard, Calif. (January 18, 2010) – St. John’s President and Chief Executive Officer T. Michael Murray has announced that he will be leaving his position as Ventura Market president of St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard and St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo effective March 31, 2010. Murray joined Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) in 2001 as president of St. John’s hospitals, where he has been responsible for the executive leadership and total operations of these two hospitals.

“I came to St. John’s a little over eight years ago with excitement about the new opportunity within Catholic Healthcare West (CHW). My experiences at St. John’s and CHW have been some of the most rewarding of my career,” said Murray. “I will especially miss all the wonderful people with whom I have had the privilege to work, including the Sisters of Mercy; our outstanding medical staff, nursing staff, employees, volunteers; members of our boards; and St. John’s supporters and community partners.”

Murray also noted that over the next two-and-a-half months, he will give his full commitment to the many projects and initiatives currently in progress at St. John’s hospitals. As the hospitals prepare for a positive and productive transition, a national search for a new president will begin this week.

“I am proud of what we have achieved as an organization through our collaborative efforts over these years,” said Murray. “Our accomplishments and successes are made possible by our team of dedicated healthcare professionals, whose commitment to our patients and our mission of healing make a difference in our county on a daily basis. I am confident that, as we have done for almost a century, St. John’s will continue to thrive and do what we do best—serve our community.”
