The LINAC scalpel, a
sophisticated method of treating cancer that can more effectively
influence the outcome for some patients, is available at ROCVC.

Prostate Cancer and
Brachytherapy
ROCVC has
successfully treated patients with prostate cancer with the use of
Proseed, otherwise known as brachytherapy, which permanently
implants radioactive seeds into the prostate gland. Proseed
delivers a prescribed dose of radiation directly to the cancer
cells while decreasing the risk of radiating surrounding tissues or
organs.

the UCLA Jonnson Cancer Center provides patients with access to
clinical trials currently being conducted nationwide.

Integrative
Therapies
St. John's Cancer Center of Ventura
County offers an array of alternative therapies to provide patients
with spiritual tools to help fight cancer, including classes such
as art expression, Reiki, T'ai Chi Chih, guided imagery, pulse
technique, and
reflexology.
Reiki, which is growing in popularity, is the
Japanese form of laying on of hands a system for channeling energy
to someone for the purpose of healing.
Guided imagery, another well-received
technique, can be used to positively
impact the major control systems of the body, including
heart rate, blood pressure, wound healing, and even immune system
function.
Support Groups and
Educational Seminars
Our Cancer Center offers an array of
support groups for ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, brain tumors,
blood-related cancers, and breast cancer.
Classes covering
lymphedema
and
exercise after breast surgery
are
also provided.
In addition, our Cancer Center staff
participates in health fairs and seminars to educate the community
on a variety of topics, including breast-self examinations and the
importance of early detection of cancer.
